Saving the Tiger!

Standard: Stability and Motion; Forces and Interactions
Class: Mrs.Amacker and Mrs.Oliphant's class
Grade Level: 3

During this activity we read a book and were directed to use the materials in the VEX kit to collaborate with our group and come up with a way to save a trapped tiger. There were a few requirements we had to meet: we could not pick the tiger up by the tail, neck, or feet; we had to use a magnet; we had to create a complex machine; we had to successfully pick the tiger up 4 inches.
We decided to use a pulley to lift the tiger, we caged the tiger and added a magnet on top, then we use a wheel and axle to roll the tiger to safety.
How would you have done this activity? Would you have caged the tiger or created a sling for him to sit in? What all machines do you see used?
